Asenath Cargill Capron was born in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, on October 5, 1792. Her parents, John Capron and Asenath Cargill, had 10 children. She married Josiah Chapin (1788-1881) on November 22, 1815, and moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where Josiah was vice president of the Providence Merchants' Bank. The Chapins belonged to many religious and charitable societies, and Asenath Chapin was directress of the Providence Children's Friend Society. They had seven children: William C...
